London - Restoran kari bersejarah di London yang memiliki hubungan dengan kemerdekaan India akan ditutup. Hal itu lantaran pengelola gagal mencegahnya diubah jadi hotel.

India Club, sebuah restoran kari bersejarah di London yang memiliki hubungan dengan perjuangan kemerdekaan India, akan menutup pintu untuk terakhir kalinya pada hari Minggu (17/9). Hal itu setelah para pengelola gagal mencegahnya diubah menjadi hotel.

Restoran ini terletak secara tidak mencolok di atas cabang jaringan toko roti Greggs di kawasan sibuk di pusat kota London.

Klub ini didirikan tiga tahun setelah kemerdekaan India pada tahun 1947 oleh anggota Liga India, sebuah kelompok kampanye yang berbasis di Inggris yang menganjurkan kebebasan bagi India dari kolonial Inggris.

Manajer Phiroza Marker mengatakan India Club telah mengalami hari-hari tersibuk minggu ini dan dia sedang mencari tempat lain di dekatnya untuk restoran tersebut.

Selama beberapa dekade, India Club telah menarik pengunjung tetap yang menginginkan masala dosa atau domba bhuna dengan satu pint bir Cobra atau Kingfisher.
