Paris - Menara Eiffel ditutup pada Rabu, 27 Desember 2023 bertepatan 100 tahun kematian penciptanya, Gustave Eiffel. Penutupan ini terjadi karena pemogokan pekerja.

Perusahaan yang mengawasi menara tersebut, Societe d'Exploitation de la Tour Eiffel (SETE), mengatakan bahwa penutupan ini terjadi karena karena pemogokan terkait dengan negosiasi kontrak serikat pekerja Confederation generale du travail (CGT) dengan pemilik menara, Kota Paris, ibu kota Prancis.

Penutupan Menara Eiffel membuat wisatawan yang jauh-jauh datang ke Paris merasa kecewa. Mereka melihat tanda besar di bawah fasad besi yang mengumumkan penutupan dalam berbagai bahasa dan meminta maaf atas ketidaknyamanan ini.

Wisatawan masih dapat mengakses lapangan terbuka kaca di bawah menara, namun akses ke landmark setinggi 300 meter (984 kaki) itu sendiri ditutup hingga pemberitahuan lebih lanjut.
