India - Umat Hindu di India kembali merayakan festival Diwali. Dalam perayaan hari besar itu, lebih dari 2,2 juta lampu tanah dinyalakan.

Lampu menerangi tepian sungai Saryu pada malam festival Hindu Diwali, di Ayodhya, India, Sabtu (11/11/2023).

Kota Ayodhya di negara bagian Uttar Pradesh, India utara, mencetak rekor dengan penerangan lebih dari 2,2 juta lampu minyak tanah selama perayaan Deepotsav pada malam Diwali.

Warga Ayodhya menciptakan Rekor Dunia Guinness baru untuk menyalakan lampu dalam jumlah besar.

Adapun festival diwarnai dengan lampu dan cahaya sebagai lambang kemenangan dan harapan umat manusia.

Setiap tahunnya, masyarakat India tak pernah absen merayakan festival Diwali atau Deepavali ini.

Festival ini biasanya diadakan antara bulan Oktober hingga November, dengan tanggal yang berubah setiap tahun. Penetapan kapan Diwali atau Deepavali dirayakan mengacu pada kalender Hindu. Diwali jatuh pada Amavasya atau bulan lalu pada hari ke-15 bulan Kartik dari Kalender Hindu.
