India - India juga memiliki festival budaya yang digelar setiap tahun. Salah satunya ada festival para umat hindu yakni Lathmar Holi atau Festival Holi.

Setiap musim semi tiba, Festival Lathmar Holi di India tak pernah absen diselenggaran. Bahkan, di tengah pandemi 2021 pun festival tersebut tetap berjalan.

Setiap kali Festival Lathmar Holi di India digelar, antusias tak hanya datang dari warga setempat. Banyak pula pelancong asal lunar negeri yang tak ingin ketinggalan merasakan keseruannya.

Festival Lathmar Holi identik dengan serbuk warna-warni. Setiap peserta akan melempar serbuk sehingga beragam warna cantik bertaburan serta menyelimuti mereka yang hadir.

Perlu diketahui pula, setiap warna dalam Festival Lathmar Holi di India memiliki makna tertentu. Warna-warna itu erat kaitannya dengan unsur budaya, mitologi, hingga keagamaan.

Misalnya saja warna kuning di Festival Lathmar Holi di India dianggap sebagai simbol kemakmuran serta perdagangan. Sementara warna biru, yang identik sebagai warna kulit Krishna memiliki arti cinta, damai, dan surga.

Banyak aktivitas seru yang biasa dilakukan untuk merayakan Lathmar Holi di India. Mulai dari menyanyikan lagu rohani hingga menari.

Selain itu diulik dari sejarahnya Lathmar Holi (lathmar secara harfiah artinya adalah ‘memukul dengan tongkat’) didasarkan pada mitologi yang mana lelaki akan menyanyikan lagu-lagu provokatif dan menggoda perempuan. Para perempuan lalu akan membalasnya dengan memukul mereka pakai tongkat. Tradisi ini dianggap menghidupkan legenda Hindu kuno.

Menurut legenda, Dewa Krisna (dewa yang sangat dihormati dalam agama Hindu) datang dari Nandgaon untuk bermain Holi bersama kekasihnya Radha di Barsana. Krisna sering menggoda teman-teman kekasihnya yang gopis (gembala sapi). Karena kesal, mereka mengusir Krisna dengan memukulnya pakai tongkat.
